ACT Sports Minister Yvette Berry told ABC 666's 'Canberra Breakfast' program presenter Ross Solly today she and the ACT Government remain committed to the construction of a new twin-sheet ice sports facility in Greenway (Tuggeranong).

A response to the government's November requirement for an updated and detailed proposal from the project's proponent (Cruachan Investments) and developer (Pelligra Group) is due today.

Berry told the ABC the commitment remains for a "twin-sheet facility at Tuggeranong, making sure we take into account all ice sports user groups, and potentially new groups ...and growing that (new ice) sport".

She said commercial decisions that one team makes about where it wants to play its games have no bearing on the government's position.

"Commercial decisions that the Canberra Brave make ... are entirely up to them," the minister said. "My commitment and the ACT Government's commitment is to that twin-sheet facility in Tuggeranong.

"I am keen to ensure that all ice user groups ... in the ACT are able to use a facility that meets their needs ... and provides opportunity for growth in a range of different (ice) sports."

The interview begins at around 1:53:21 of the program link with a 3-4 minute duration.
