The Canberra Brave have come back to earth with a thud after the fastest-growing season in their history, locked out of the Phillip ice rink and left with nowhere to train before their first game of the year this weekend.

In an apparent standoff between the Brave and Geocon, the owners of the Phillip site that has been the centre of pool and ice-rink controversy, the ice hockey team has no venue to train at until the AIS Arena set up is ready in May.

The Brave say they were blindsided by the move. Geocon says it told the Brave in January the team's deal to use the facility would expire on March 31 and would not be renewed, and now other ice sports had booked the facility in what would have been training times.
